The Day for the Sole Sisters

KUALA LUMPUR, 19th of January 2016 – Tourism Selangor recently launched the 4th Edition of the Malaysia Women Marathon 2016, the annual event for ladies in Malaysia! The event that has drawn women by the thousands every year since its inaugural run in 2013. Women from all walks of life, young and old, will once again take to the pavements and roads of Shah Alam on the 6th March 2016.

As in previous years, there will be pre-event programs which include workshops, a keynote address by invited guest speaker, a women’s dialogue session and a fair related to the sport, specially tailored for women on the 4th and 5th of March 2016. The Arc, Rimbayu, is the chosen venue for the workshops and race kit collection, as well as a fair. There will be talks on health and fitness by experts and race briefings conducted prior to the day.

The marathon runners this year will also get a change in the routes with the sponsorships and support from Etiqa Insurance Berhad, Projek Lintasan Kota Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) and Rimbayu-IJM. The routes for the marathon will begin from the city centre of Shah Alam and will traverse across Kota Kemuning and Bandar Rimbayu via Lebuhraya Kemuning Shah Alam (LKSA) before ending back again in the city centre.

“We hope that more women will join in the run this year and the public will come to the Arc, Rimbayu and attend the workshops. It is an event that promotes health and camaraderie in the community that should be supported by the public. It will also showcase other scenic places in Shah Alam and people will get a different taste of the city,” said YB Puan Elizabeth Wong, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Tourism, Consumer Affairs & Environment Of Selangor who officially launched the MWM 2016.

The 4th edition of ‘The Malaysia Women Marathon’ brings a new goal which comes in a new emblem.
